Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it arrested a drug peddler in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Police said that a Police party of PS Beerwah at a checkpoint established at Chewdara crossing near DIET Beerwah intercepted a vehicle (Hyundai Santro car) bearing registration number JK01F-2247 driven by Kousar Ali Mir S/o Mohammad Abdullah Mir R/o WanihamaBeerwah.
Stating tha during search of the vehicle the police party recovered 17.6 Kgs of poppy straw concealed in four nylon bags, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that the said drug peddler has been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
The police in it’s statement also said that it registered a case vide FIR number 143/2022 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Beerwah and investigation has been initiated.
In a concluding para of the above referred statement, Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and reiterated its firm commitment to act tough against the people found indulging in drug peddling as per law.
