Gang of car lifters busted in B’gam, 2 accused arrested,5 stolen vehicles recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has busted a gang of car lifters by arresting two persons on charges of involvement in stealing car and recovering five stolen vehicles in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Police said that on receiving inputs about the cars stolen in Chadoora area of Budgam district the Police Station Chadoora busted a gang of car jackers/thieves as it arrested two accused persons involved in the sale and purchase of stolen vehicles, Stating there in further that the said accused arrested on Monday  have been identified as Mohammad Yousuf Bhat S/o Abdul Rehman Bhat R/o Karpora Charar-I-Sharief and Irshad Ahmad Sheikh S/o Abdul Raheem Sheikh R/o Bugam Batapora Chadoora.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the modus-operandi of the involved gang was to smuggle the stolen vehicles from other states with fake and forged documents and sell the same to the locals at cheaper rates”, reads the Police Statement, adding that an FIR  bearing No. 135/2022 has been registered under relevant sections of the law at Police Station Chadoora and investigation too has been initiated.

Disclosing that during further course of investigation, several locations were raided by police and five stolen vehicles having forged registration numbers and documents were recovered, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that the recovered vehicles include a Maruti Breeza, 2 Maruti Baleno and 2 Maruti Swift vehicles.

In the concluding para of the above referred statement police  confirmed that further investigation of the case is going on, Stating therein further that the involvement of some more persons have been established in the said case and they are expected to be arrested very soon.
