Shopian : The Red Ribbon Club and NSS Wing of Imtiyaz Memorial Govt. Degree College (IM-GDC) Shopian in collaboration with District Red Cross Society Shopianon Saturday organized a Blood Donation Camp to celebrate National Voluntary Blood Donation Day 2022 at GDC, here.
The camp was inaugurated by the Principal, IM-GDC Shopian, Prof. Bashir Ahmad Dar and Dr Khalid Abbas, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Shopian.
Medical team from District Hospital and volunteers from District Red Cross Society were also present on the occasion.
The Principal and Medical Superintendent emphasized on the need for regular blood donation which is crucial in saving precious human lives during medical emergencies, and highlighted the objectives of blood donation by making students aware about the need for safe blood and safe blood products.
Speakers on the occasion said that blood donation is an act of kindness that does great wonders by saving the lives of people in need of it.
A large number of volunteers, students as well as staff members from the college donated blood.
Convener Red Ribbon Club and NSS Programme Officer motivated the students for voluntary, unpaid blood donations. He said that blood donation is a very noble cause and valuable community service.
He also thanked District Red Cross Society Shopian, blood donors and paramedical staff from District Health Services Shopian for making this programme successful.
