Budgam : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, S F Hamid on Saturday launched a month long cleanliness campaign from Sheikh-ul-Alam Memorial (SAM), Govt. Degree College Budgam.
The campaign was organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Budgam under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and is being held across all 17 blocks of the district.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC urged students and other youth to support all such initiatives and become ambassadors of Clean and NashaMuktBudgam.
He asked students to play the role of a responsible and conscious citizen and take such campaigns to their villages and ensure all our surroundings are clean.
Besides supporting local gram sabhas in implementing sanitation plans, the DC sensitized students to help in curbing drug menace also. He urged them to help parents in identifying the early signs of drug abuse for prompt counseling and treatment of victims and save them from falling prey to peddlers’ vicious network.
Stressing on proper sanitation and successful implementation of the sanitation plans, DC assured that the clean villages shall receive special focus from District Administration.
On the occasion, participants also took the Swachhta Pledge for cleanliness and sanitation.
Principal SAM College, DrMudasirAfshan and NYK District Coordinator, Wali Mohammad Lone also spoke on the occasion, highlighting the importance of cleanliness and conducting such programmes.
