DDC advises students to be health conscious, act as ambassadors of Anti-Drug campaign

Doda: To disseminate awareness on substance/drug abuse, a marathon race was on Friday organized by the Education department Doda under the aegis of the ongoing NashaMukt Bharat campaign.
Hundreds of students from different schools participated in the race which started from Sports stadium Doda and passed through Circular road and returned back to Sports Stadium.
Nikhal Kumar of Shaheen Public Hr Sec School emerged as winner, Rahul Sharma of Government Hr Sec School Boys finished as first runner up and the 3rd position went to Vicky Sharma of Hr Sec School Bharath.
Earlier, the marathon was flagged off by District Development Commissioner, Vishesh Paul Mahajan in the presence of SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom; CEO DodaParshotam Kumar; DYSSO, JaffarHaider Sheikh and other officers from civil and police administration.
It is pertinent to mention here that the district administration Doda has been organizing a series of activities including marathon race, sports activities and essay writing / debate competition / NukadNataks in the schools under the Anti- Drug Campaign.
Addressing the event, the District Development Commissioner said that the goal of the campaign was to mobilize support and to inspire people to act against drug abuse and drug trafficking. “All the activities being conducted across the district aim to encourage young people to put their health first and never take support of drugs as a solution to their problems” he added.
He also appealed to students to handle the peer pressure in the school diligently and convert Peer pressure into Peer support by acting in a positive manner for evolving a drug free society.
SSP Doda also appealed to the students not to fall prey to drug menace and stay healthy. He stated that the drug addiction was ruining society and the youth not just financially, physically and mentally but spiritually as well.
