Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Awantipora and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police HeadquartersPolice said that the Police party led by Incharge Police Post Reshipora of under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali Bhatti during a naka checking at Kawni crossing intercepted three suspects who tried to flee away from the spot but were apprehended tactfully.
Stating that during searches 16.1Kgs of grinded Cannabis powder concealed in three Nylon bags was recovered from the possession of said accused identified as Riyaz Ahmad BhatS/o Mohammad Ismail Bhat, Javaid Ahmad Bhat S/o Late Gh Nabi Bhat R/o Kawni Awantipora and Javaid Ahmad Dar S/o Mohammad Abdullah Dar R/o Dogripora Awantipora , Police in it’s above referred statement also said that the above named accused have been also arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Stating therein further that police has also registered a case vide FIR No. 213/2022 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been also initiated.
In the concluding para of the above referred statement, police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and reiterated it’s promise to act tough against the drug peddlers as per law.
