Closing ceremony of POSHAN Mah-2022 held at B’pora

POSHAN Abhiyan aimed to counter malnutrition in mission mode: DM Owais

Bandipora: The district-level concluding ceremony of the Rashtriya POSHAN (Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition) Maah-2022 was held on Thursday at Chitternar, Bandipora.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) BandiporaDr.Owais Ahmed was chief guest on the occasion.
The event witnessed the participation of District Programme Officer, ICDS, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak; Joint Director Planning, Imtiyaz Ahmad; DSWO Bandipora, Child Development Project Officers, Supervisors, Angandawadi workers and other field functionaries of the department.
DSWO Bandipora, UbaidulKhazir highlighted the proactive role of District Administration in implementing various programmes and schemes.
Nodal Officer School Health, Dr.Sabia from Chief Medical Office Bandipora threw light on balanced diet for women and children.
In her speech, she emphasized on intake of safe and fresh food for pregnant and lactating mothers for the proper development of children.
Anganwadi workers showcased the performance of the department under PoshanAbhiyan and achievements under various schemes.
Various speakers on the occasion highlighted the role of District Administration and PoshanAbhiyan in implementation of PoshanAbhiyan and NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan in the district.
Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad in his address stressed that our responsibility towards malnourished children, pregnant mothers and lactating mothers is not over until each house is free of malnutrition.
CDPO Hajin ,AltafHussain highlighted the aims and objectives of the PoshanAbhiyan programme.
DPO Bandipora, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak lauded the efforts of ground level workers and other officials of the department for implementation of various schemes.
He said the department worked tirelessly to spread awareness about nutrition at the grassroots level and that the department conducted numerous sensitization drives to make citizens aware of the importance of nutrition.
Hakak added that Identification and Outreach programmes for pregnant and lactating women were also held for percolating the benefit to the targeted groups.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said that schemes like PoshanAbhiyan have revolutionized the department. He remarked that these initiatives have reduced the cases of malnourishment to a considerable extent.
Dr.Owais on the occasion, lauded the efforts of the department for exemplary work in the PoshanAbhiyan programme which has resulted in improvement in various indicators of the district.
He said ground level workers of Mission Poshan (ICDS) play a significant role for proper mental as well as physical development of the children. Well-being of children is essential for the country’s development, he added.
Dr.Owais said that the key objective of POSHAN Abhiyaan was to counter malnutrition in a mission mode.
The officials who had made outstanding contributions during RashtriyaPoshanMah were felicitated with certificates and mementos.
