Agri Deptt Kmr organizes Awareness, promotion event on Sweet-Corn at GHSS Kothibagh

Srinagar : Continuing the drive to promote sweet corn in Kashmir division, the Agriculture department is running a sweet corn promotion campaign for facilitation of marketing linkage in different educational institutions of Kashmir division and to raise awareness about this crop among the young generation.
These views were expressed by Joint Director Agriculture Inputs Farooq Ahmad Bhat while addressing awareness cum promotion on sweet corn at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Kothibagh, here.
Speaking on the occasion, Joint Director Agriculture Inputs highlighted the multi dimensional importance of sweet corn. He said the sweet corn produced in our agro climatic conditions is much better (in terms of quality and taste) than the same crop produced in other areas of the country.
Farooq expressed satisfaction over receiving orders for sweet corn from outside Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the department is endeavoring to explore sweet corn crop on commercial lines for the benefit of farming community of the region.
Principal GHSS, Syed NusratBukhari also expressed her views on the occasion. She appreciated the efforts of the Agriculture Department for organizing such programs in the educational institutions of Kashmir Division. She said that organizing such programs will help students to recognize the importance of agriculture in day to day life.
Later on Joint Director Agriculture Inputs had an interactive session with the teachers and students of the Kothibaghschool in which different agriculture activities were discussed.
