Pr Secy SDD inaugurates administrative-cum- workshop block of ITI Gurez

Jammu :  Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr.Asgar Hassan Samoon, on Wednesday inaugurated administrative cum workshop block of Government Industrial Training Institute, Gurez Bandipora.

Director SDD, Sudarshan Kumar, SDM Gurez, Superintendent ITI, other senior officers and students were present on the occasion.

Officials informed that the project cost of administrative cum workshop block was Rs 296.97 lakh, of which, Rs 266.70 lakh stands released.

Dr.Samoon highlighted importance of skill development courses and urged upon youth to take maximum benefit from various government schemes tailored to ensure them a dignified job through self employment ventures. He said skill courses enable students to become self sufficient and compete in present fast growing industrial world. He said new trades including Bee Keeping, Electrician, Carpenter and others will be introduced at ITI Gurez soon to meet the demands of market.

“The present dispensation is committed towards providing all requisite facilities to youth at their doorsteps so that they earn their livelihood and make their future bright”, Dr Samoon maintained.

Dr.Samoon directed the concerned officers from Skill Development Department to conduct skiing course for ITI students in collaboration with tourism department during winter season as part of winter sports.

On the occasion, Dr.Samoon also sanctioned computers for ITI Gurez to further augment the computer laboratory.

Later, Dr.Samoon chaired a meeting of district and sectoral officers Gurez to review status of various developmental projects being executed in the district.

He directed the concerned departments and executing agencies to complete work on all ongoing developmental projects before the onset of winter season. He also directed the heads of various departments to ensure availability of all essentials during winter season.
