Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a person for involvement of extraction and transportation of minerals and also seized a vehicle in Budgam.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, police said that PS Chadoora intercepted one dumper loaded with illegally extracted soil at Magraypora Chadoora, which he had extracted from Government land at Magraypora.
Stating that the driver was arrested and the dumper was also seized on spot, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that the arrested driver has been identified as Suhail Abbas Sofi son of Ashiq Hussain Sofi R/O Rakh Shalina Tengen, Stating therein further that a case vide FIR number 162/2022 was registered under relevant sections of law in Police Station Chadoora and investigation has been initiated.
In a concluding para of the above referred statement, police said that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
