Budgam :  The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, S F Hamid on Wednesday called for launching a village level aggressive campaign against drugs under ‘NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan’ across the district.

DC said this, while chairing a meeting to review implementation of NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan in the district at Conference Hall Budgam.

At the outset, DC instructed Officers from the Social Welfare department to hold a training cum awareness programme on the identification of early signs of drugs, where all Asha workers shall be trained to take the campaign door to door in their village to sensitize parents and other stakeholders about the identification and controlling measures.

DSWO, who was designated as nodal officer for the programme was directed to ensure aggressive campaigning is carried out for effective results.

She was assigned to arrange resources persons of relevant departments who would deliberate on the topic during the programme.

Stressing on the drug abuse control at grass roots level, the DC instructed CEO Education to hold awareness camps at all schools and conduct regular teacher- parent meetings to disseminate relevant information.

He also instructed concerned to keep a tight vigil on all vulnerable groups including brick kilns and ensure effective enforcement against drugs.

DC said that a pool of 10 volunteers per village to be created across the district to ensure sustained information and education of the public to achieve the goal of drug free Budgam.

The meeting among others was attended by ADC Budgam, Dr Nasir Ahmad; ACD, ACP, CMO, CEO, DSWO, BDOs, EOs and other concerned.
