Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a female drug peddler who was evading her arrest.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, police said that PS Bandipora on Wednesday arrested a female drug peddler namely Posha Begum who was evading her arrest after she managed to escape on August 25 this year during a raid on residential house of Khursheed Ahmad Waza @Mandaila resident of Ward No. 05 Bandipora.
Stating that a Case vide FIR No. 148/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at PS Bandipora and investigation was set into motion, Police in it’s above referred statement said that while keeping in view the sensitivity of matter, a special investigation team was constituted by SSP Bandipora Mohmad Zahid under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Bandipora Shafat Mohmad.
“Different teams of PS Bandipora were deputed after getting specific information regarding her presence in Bandipora which were corroborated with technical assistance and different locations in the district were raided to arrest her”, reads the police statement, adding that “Finally the said drug peddler was arrested from Nusoo area of Bandipora and produced before the Court at Bandipora for obtaining a judicial remand”.
Police in the concluding para of the above referred statement, requested to people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood.
