The 10-Day Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) under Mission Youth’s Tejaswini (The Radiant) livelihood scheme commenced on Monday at the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) campus here.

The scheme is a special endeavour of Mission Youth, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, to empower young women, enabling them to become self-reliant.

The EDP is being organized by the Institute for the aspiring female entrepreneurs of district Pulwama, in which 45 female candidates have registered. During the 10- Day EDP, the candidates will be apprised about basic business concepts like business plan formulation, marketing plans, accounts management, and many other topics of relevance.

The scheme is aimed to provide financial assistance to young women for setting up of gainful self employment ventures suited to their skills, training, aptitude and local conditions. This will empower and encourage women for setting up of income generation units for activities either in manufacturing, services, trading sectors.

After the successful completion of the training programme, these registered female candidates will get help in setting up of an enterprise or for expansion and modernization of existing unit. The project report will also have provisions for acquisition of fixed assets (Plant & Machinery, equipment, furniture & fixtures) to meet working capital needs for purchase of various products, equipments and tools.

The trained female candidates shall also be facilitated to avail financial assistance to the extent of Rs 5.00 lakh. This initiative will enhance their socio economic status and leads to integration of women in nation building.
