The demise of my mother on ill fated night of September 18, Sunday was undoubtedly darkest night of my life as she left for heavenly abode unexpectedly just in early evening hours in a short span of 45 minutes. Our family was taking extra care of her at our Humhama house for last more than a decade after the demise of my father on January, 17 2012. I had changed daily engagements only to spend maximum time with my mother not because of her any ailment but because of her old age. As my mother complained of breathlessness at about 7.00 P.M in the evening I immediately took her from my Humhama House to Sanantnagar Private Clinic of Dr Naveed Nazir Shah a leading  pulmonologist of J&K . I had not even imagined that it would be her last journey with me and my sister. As her saturation level went down to 53 Dr Naveed Nazir Shah referred her to SMHS hospital but unfortunately she left for heavenly abode before we reached the top referral hospital .After completing legal formalities, we shifted the body of my beloved mother to Humhama. We thought it would create more panic among the local villagers in our ancestral village Kreeri, if we shifted the body in the middle of night to Kreeri. Entire family spent the whole night with her at our Humhama house. I cannot explain how painful it was.  During my college days, my father was deputed to Saudi Arabia by J&K Health Department where he worked for a long span of 15 years (1985-2000). It was the peak of militancy in Kashmir and living without a family head was more challenging. I remember my mother was courageous and strong enough to send all three of us (me , my brother and sister) to college and wait for us in the evening till our return to home. She always used to smile, no matter whatever the circumstances are and that gives me the strength and inspiration to face all situations. My mother has been the greatest inspiration in my life and is the main reason that I am where I am and who I am today. Living years without a father was not easy for me, my brother and sister, but my mother not only dealt with several setbacks that she suffered by loosing her three brothers in a short span of few years one after the other. She undoubtedly played an exemplary role in raising our family to the position where it stands today.  I don’t know how she managed it all, but she did it exceptionally well. My mother looked after me and supported me in every part of my life. Right from our childhood she was like a shadow for us .  It had been riddled with hurdles and difficulties, but she has managed to cross them with distinction. She by all probabilities proved herself an amazing and independent person with qualities of bringing up her children without any support from others.

My mother is a never ending song in my heart of comfort, happiness and being. I may sometimes forget the words but I always remember the tune.  May Almighty Allah elevate her place in Jannat-Ul-Firdous. Request all friends, well wishers, relatives, and colleagues to pray for my beloved mother.

She taught me , my brother and sister that hard times can be overcome and that losing battles can be won. She has taught me more than I could have learnt from any book.  Last week, hundreds of people attended the funeral prayers of my mother. Her funeral prayers (Nimaz-e-Jinaza) were performed at our ancestral graveyard at Kreeri Baramulla near the shrine of Haji Syed Mohammad Murad Bukhari (RA).
