Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested three suspects on charges of involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Awantipora and also seized three vehicles involved in the commission of crime.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters on Saturday Police said that Police Station Awantipora received an information about illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Padgampora Chersoo area of Awantipora after which a Police party of Police Station Awantipora raided the specific spot and seized three tippers bearing registration numbers JK03B-5727, JKO1N-9766 & JK05A-6328 and arrested three accused drivers on spot with illegally extracted sand.
Stating that the accused drivers have been identified as Gh Mohammad Dar S/O Habib-u-llah Dar, Ab Rashid Parray S/O Ab Aziz Parray and Irfan Ahmad Bhat S/O Mohammad Altaf Bhat, all residents of Awantipora, Police in it’s statement further said that all the three accused have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody and a case vide FIR No. 207/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been taken up.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
