Srinagar : Police in Handwara on Thursday seized an illicit timber at Bakihakar area of Handwara.
According to a statement issued from J&K Zonal Police Headquarters police said while acting on specific inputs regarding illicit timber lying in the premises of Showkat Ahmad Sheikh S/o Gull Sheikh R/O Bakihakar, a police party of Police Station Handwara raided the particular spot and seized illicit timber approximately 13cfts. The police later on accordingly, registered a case vide FIR No. 253/2022 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Handwara and further investigation set into motion.
In a concluding para of the above referred statement police said that the drive against timber smugglers will continue to ensure protection of green gold, Stating therein further that consistent actions against anti-social elements are taken to make every effort to keep society free of crime. Police in it’s above quoted statement also resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal activities.
