Rajouri : The Municipal Council (MC) Rajouri, under the chairmanship of President Mohammad ArifJatt, on Thursday organised a series of events in the city under the Indian Swachhata League.
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, VikasKundal was the chief guest at the main event.
Awareness programs were organised involving youth groups and other participants to bring a positive change among the public towards cleanliness to achieve a garbage free nation, UT as well as the District.
An active Community participation was witnessed in all the events. DDC Chairman, Advocate NaseemLiaqat; Deputy Commissioner, VikasKundal; President MC Rajouri, Mohammad ArifJatt; Additional Deputy Commissioner, SachinDev Singh; ACR, Imran Rashid Kataria; Vice President MC Rajouri, Bharat BushanVaid, Councillors, social activists, voluntary organisations, youth groups, school going children, students from BGSBU and swachhakarmis participated in cleanliness drives at different locations. Mass awareness was generated on the use of two dust bins, grey water management and use of biodegradable materials.
A NukkadNatak was also presented on the theme “Swachhata” at the event.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri said under the initiative, different events have been scheduled by the Municipal Council Rajouri, including cleanliness drives, drawing competitions, cycle rally, nukkadnataketc with a major thrust on cleaning of the historical and tourist places in the main town.
He said the main aim of the league is to involve residents, especially the youth, to build a ‘garbage-free city’. He urged the youth to join hand and work shoulder to shoulder with MC Rajouri and District Administration in realising the dream of Clean and Green District.
In his address, the Chairman MC highlighted the initiatives of the civic body towards making Rajouri clean and Green.
