Rajouri : The open DM Table Tennis Rolling Trophy began on Thursday at the Indoor Sports stadium KhoeraRajouri here on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, VikasKundal inaugurated the tournament in presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, SachinDev Singh; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Imran Kataria; District Youth and Sports Officer, Sunil Samyal and others.
The DM Table Tennis Rolling Trophy is an open championship for both boys and Girls.
Interacting with the players, the Deputy Commissioner exhorted them to take equal interest in sports along with academics to become all-rounders.
Furthermore, he appreciated the Department of Youth Services and Sports for creating mass awareness about the significance of sports. He also lauded the efforts of the department for organising such types of sports activities and asked them to work with the same zeal.
He said the main objective of organising such events is to channelize the energy of the students, develop their physical and mental health and imbibe team spirit and understanding. He said sports are the best means to save the youth from falling into the trap of drug abuse.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri also participated in the e launching of the Inter Zonal District Level LG Rolling cup in the discipline of cricket.
He also inaugurated the first match of Inter Zonal District Level LG Rolling cup. The first match was played between Darhal and Peeri.
