Srinagar : Police in Sopore on Wednesday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued form Zonal Police Headquarters, Police said that a police party headed by SHO Police Station Sopore under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Furqan Qadir during checking at Butpora intercepted three persons in a suspicious manner who tried to run away from the spot but were apprehended tactfully.
Stating that during checking 31grms of Brown Sugar like substance were recovered from the possession of the said accused identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Gazi S/o Ghulam Muhammad R/o Shahabad Sopore, Aijaz Ahmad Ganie S/o Bashir Ahmad Ganie R/o Hathishah Sopore and Zubair Ahmad Lone S/o Muhammad Rafi Lone R/o Khawaja Gilgat Sopore, Police in it’s statement further said that the above named accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Police in it’s above referred statement also said that a case vide FIR No. 246/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation has been initiated, Police in it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken as part of the efforts made to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
