SMC kick-starts series of Prog under Indian Swachta League

Srinagar :   As  part of national programme, Indian Swachta League, a weeklong Swachta drive was kick-started  by Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) here on Monday under the aegis of Mayor of Srinagar,  JunaidAzimMatoo and  Commissioner SMC, AtharAamir Khan.

The drive was launched from Sheri-i-Kashmir Park, Where walkathon was flagged-off by  Mayor, SMC in presence of senior officials from SMC.

The event was attended by a large number of volunteers,  andSafaimitras from different wards. Holding placards in their hands, the participants in the walkathon raised general awareness among the people regarding the importance of cleanliness.

Mayor SMC, administered a swachhta pledge among cleanliness warriors, asking them to work selflessly for the idea of Clean and Green Srinagar. On the occasion, the volunteers and safaimitras took a pledge that they would devote an ample part of their life in keeping the surroundings  neat and clean.

While addressing the launch of the weeklong drive, Commissioner SMC asked the warriors to work for the realization of the dream project, ‘Green and Clean Srinagar’. He also appealed to the general public to lend their hand in making the city neat and clean.

In addition to the programme, a cleanliness drive was also organized from a famous tourist spot Cheshmashahi to PariMahal.

Attended by the SMC volunteers, the participants carried out extensive cleanliness of world famous Cheshmashahi – Parimahal track. The drive was flagged off by the Mayor, SMC.

Moreover, a plog run was held from Shalimar NFR bridge to Dug Park Fore Shore Road.  Attended by a huge number of volunteers and SMC warriors, The run was flagged off by Joint Commissioner(S) and Chief Sanitation Officer  accompanied by  senior officials from SMC.
