Hundreds attend funeral procession of KH Editor Shafqat Bukhari’s mother in Kreeri

From Sunday onward, condolence will be held at Humhama Srinagar

Srinagar: Hundreds of people on Monday attended the funeral prayers of mother of veteran journalist and Editor in Chief of Kashmir Horizon Shafqat Bukhari in north Kashmir’s Kreeri town.
Reports said that braving odds, crowds of tearful mourners from across the Valley reached the Kreeri to attend the funeral prayers of the deceased, who passed away on early Monday morning. In a tearful message, Bukhari informed that his mother has left the heavenly abode on Monday morning and shared the timing of her funeral prayers. “Shocked and saddened to share sad demise of my beloved mother. Barely in half an hour she left for heavenly abode as otherwise was she very well. Her funeral prayers (Nimaz-e-Jinaza) will be performed at 11.00 A. M on Monday at our ancestral graveyard at Kreeri Baramulla near shrine of Haji Syed Mohammad Murad Bukhari (RA),” he wrote on Facebook. “May Almighty Allah elevate her place in Jannat-Ul-Firdous. Request all friends, we’ll wishers, relatives, and colleagues to pray for my beloved mother,” Bukhari said.
Amid the participation of hundreds of people in funeral prayers Nimaz-e-Jinazah, among others, politicians cutting across party lines, civil society members, business fraternity attended the Nimaz-e-Jinaza of the deceased.
Bukhari’s mother was laid to rest at her ancestral graveyard in Kreeri village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. As per family, she was unwell for a couple of days and finally, on Monday morning she left heavenly abode.
“The Chahrum will be observed on Sep 22, Thursday at Kreeri village, and from Sunday onward people can visit Bukhari and his bereaved family for condolences at his Humhama residence,” he said.
As per locals, Bukhari’s mother was down to earth, pious and humble personality. They termed her demise as a huge loss for the entire area and her demise has left us all in deep shock and grief. “I pray to Almighty Allah to grant her Jannat and give endurance to her family members and relatives to bear this irreparable loss,” said villagers in Kreeri.
The deceased is survived by his two sons and a daughter- Veteran Journalist and Editor in Chief of Kashmir Horizon, Syed Shafat Bukhari, Dr. Syed Shafiq Ahmad Bukhari, and sister. Meanwhile, people from different walks of life have condoled the demise of Bukhari’s mother.
In his message, Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari expressed his grief and sorrow over the demise of the mother of a senior journalist and editor of ‘The Kashmir Horizon’ newspaper. “I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing away of Shafqat Bukhari’s mother. May Almighty bless rest the departed soul in eternal peace,” he said. Apni Party President extended heartfelt condolences to Shafqat Bukhari and other members of the bereaved family. “I pray for the much-needed strength for them to bear the pain of this irreparable loss,” he said in a condolence message.
In his condolence message , Chairman Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen while extending his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family ,has expressed solidarity with Shafqat Bukhari in this hour of grief and gloom . He has also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul .
In a condolence message former J&K Chief Secretary B B Vyas said “ Extremely pained to hear about the sad demise of beloved mother of Shafqat Bukhari. All our thoughts and prayers are with Shafqat Bukhari and his bereaved family in this hour of pain and grief. I pray for the departed soul to rest in peace”
Meanwhile, Editor in chief Kashmir News Service (KNS) Mohammad Aslam Bhat and Editor In Chief Current News Service (CNS) has also expressed his heartfelt condolence with Syed Shafqat Bukhari over the demise of his mother.
