Jammu :  In continuation to   awareness programmes on drug abuse under ‘NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan’ being organised by the Jammu Municipal Corporation, a special session of all Councillors was conducted on Saturday at Council Hall of JMC.

The event was attended by Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta, Deputy Mayor Advocate Purnima Sharma, Commissioner JMC Rahul Yadav, chairpersons of various Standing Committees as well as by officers and officials of JMC.

On the occasion, the experts DySPHqtr TSWO and CDPO highlighted the consequences of drug abuse and how to encourage others to stay away from drugs and related narcotics. General discussions were also held regarding drug menace in the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Jammu Mayor said that this NashaMukhtAbiyaan is being organized to involve youths in anti-social activities of drug menace. He further said that it is the responsibility of all to accept those people who are on the wrong path, and guide them properly, counsel them and  reach out to target groups as they are in need of love, care and proper guidance.

The Mayor also appealed to all Councillors to be serious about the future of people and play an active role in spreading messages on drug abuse, mohalla wise and ward wise. The full bench council hall took pledge to stay away from drugs menace and to participate actively in controlling the growing drugs abuse.

Jammu Mayor and Deputy Mayor congratulated Prime Minister Sh. NarinderModi on his birthday and prayed for his long life. They also congratulated the people of J&K for declaring Maharaja Hari Singh’s birthday as holiday, which otherwise was a long pending demand of the people of J&K.

The drugs abuse awareness programme ended with a positive note.
