Indian Swachata League: Plog Run flagged-off by DC Ang

Anantnag :  The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Basharat Qayoom on Saturday flagged-off a plog run organized by Municipal Committee Anantnag as part of the Indian Swachta League.

President MC Anantnag, ErHilal Ahmad Shah, senior officials of the District Administration, Principal and Staff of various GDCs, officials and staff of MC Anantnag and school students participated in the Plog Run.

The run was flagged-off from GDC (Boys) Anantnag and culminated at WazirBagh.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that several youth centric awareness initiatives are running simultaneously in the District. He said that these activities are being conducted district wide under the aegis of NashaMukht Bharat Abhiyan to spread awareness among youth about the harms of drug abuse.

DrBasharat said the Plog Run has been organized as part of Indian Swachta league which is an intercity competition for ensuring cleanliness in the city and resolve to make our cities garbage free. He said that on this SwachtaDiwas, all the participants are demonstrating their resolve to keep our environment garbage free.

The DC said that several other events are also being organized in Anantnag under the same banner. He said that there is an added focus on solid and liquid waste management in the development plans this year to ensure sustainable disposal of waste and avoid garbage accumulation.

The participants were seen enthusiastically marching through the streets of Anantnag town spreading the message of ensuring cleanliness and appealing people to keep their surroundings garbage free.
