GCOE Jmu concludes 7 Day Summer camp with mega anti- drug awareness event

Jammu : The 7-day long Summer Camp organised by the NSS unit of the Government College of Education Jammu, under the patronage of the Principal Prof Aketa Gupta, concluded on Friday with a mega anti-drug awareness event held at village Ghaink.

In her address, the Principal lauded the efforts of the NSS unit of GCOE Jammu led by Programme Officer Dr.ShubhraJamwal for reaching out to the villagers and making them aware about different important aspects, particularly the ill-effects of drug abuse. She appreciated that NSS volunteers of GCOE are always on forefront to fulfill their duties towards the society. The camp concluded with the visit of volunteers and staff members to the adopted village Ghaink where awareness was generated about drug abuse under NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan and different activities like plantation and cleanliness drive and donation of stationery items were conducted.

District Development Council (DDC) Chairman of Jammu Bharat Bhushan Bodhi was the chief guest at the function held at village Ghaink, while as BDC Chairman Kuldeep Raj was the guest of honour.

During the function a NukadNatak was presented by volunteers to inform the people about the NashaMukt Bharat. They also performed a Natak on the importance of Girl Education. Moreover, a plantation drive was conducted in the premises of the PanchayatGhar of Ghaink (Block Bhalwal).

The NSS volunteers planted saplings of various trees and other air purifying plants. All the volunteers vowed to take care of the saplings planted by them and will conduct more such activities in different parts of the adopted village. The volunteers also distributed stationary items among the school going children of the village and encouraged them to focus on their studiesEarlier, as part of the summer camp, the NSS volunteers participated in various activities like Salad-making competition under Poshan Bharat, Cleanliness and Plantation drive at Karimchi, Udhampur, one day-seminar on drug de-addiction under the aegis of NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan by PoojaRana (Civil Judge) and other various activities.

Dr .Deep K Bangotra and Prof SeemaKumari ,Prof. Neeraj ,  Ram Lal and KarunaBalotra also spoke on the occasion and threw light, particularly on the ill-effects of drug abuse. They appreciated the NSS volunteers and their PO for leaving no stone unturned to highlight the issues confronting the society were also present at the valedictory function.
