BGSBU Rajouri  celebrates Int’l Day for preservation of Ozone layer

Rajouri : International Day for preservation of Ozone layer was on Friday celebrated by Environmental Sciences, Centre for Biodiversity Studies, BGSB University, Rajouri.

According to a statement issued from the Public Relations Officer of the University the theme of World Intellectual Property Day 2022 is Global Cooperation Protecting Life on Earth. Prof Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor, BGSBU in his message emphasized that the Day holds significance and is held on September16th every year since December 1994, as the United Nations General Assembly designated September 16 International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, commemorating the date of the signing of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, in 1987. On this occasion, Dr. A. A. Shah, Associate Dean, School of Biosciences and Biotechnology while giving opening remarks expressed that the as the world celebrated the first International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer on September 16th, 1995, it has been observed with a focus on creating awareness of the depleting condition of the Ozone layer.

Dr Shreekar Pant, Coordinator, CBS highlighted that this year theme of theme announced by the UN Environment Programme for International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer 2022 is Global Cooperation Protecting Life on Earth. The Montreal Protocols impact is recognized with this theme and brings to notice the need to act in collaboration, forge partnerships and develop global cooperation to address climate challenges and protect life on earth for future generations. A pledge to discourage use of Ozone depleting substances was also taken by the students, scholars and faculty of Environmental Sciences, CBS on the occasion.
