Shopian :: As part of the nationwide week-long ‘Sachwatha Hi Seva’, which started Thursday, the District Administration Shopian launched campaign in all blocks, offices, educational institutions including colleges, schools and Panchayat Raj institutions here on Thursday.
In this regard debates, rallies, pledges on personal hygiene, sanitation drives and essay competitions were conducted in educational institutions, to raise awareness on swatchta.The department of Rural Development also conducted many activities including sanitation drives at Ramnagri while pledge ceremonies were held across other blocks.
A plastic collection and segregation campaign led by PRIs was also undertaken in many villages.
People enthusiastically participated in large numbers in the campaign alongwith PRI members. DDC member Shopian also administered and led a pledge ceremony at Shopian.
The campaign aims to reaffirm commitment towards building a cleaner and healthier future. In this regard, communities are being mobilised for the campaign of Swachhta across the district by line departments.
The campaign seeks to make the district open defecation free under which District Administration Shopian is constantly working towards the improvement of cleanliness.
