Srinagar : The District Srinagar Thang-Ta championship concluded on Friday at Thang-Ta Hall, Bakshi Stadium, here.

The championship sponsored by J&K Sports Council was organized by District Srinagar Thang-Ta Association in collaboration with J&K Thang-Ta Association. More than 300 players participated in the championship.

Dr. ZaffarIqbal, Chief Accounts Officer, Sports Council presided over the closing ceremony as the chief guest and Jahangir Ahmad Mir, Public Relation Officer Sports Council was the guest of honour on the occasion.

While addressing the gathering, Dr. ZaffarIqbal said that Sports Council’s special initiative of ‘My Youth My Pride’ is aimed at inclusive growth of all the athletes and Council has embarked on the mission to reach out to every nook and corner of J&K to tap the talent and groom them under the tutelage of specialists in the field.

Meanwhile, J&K Sports Council in association with J&K Body Building Association is organizing the first of its kind “Chinab Valley BodyBuilding Competition” on 24th and 25th September 2022 in district Kishtwar followed by “Mr. Kashmir” next month.

Moreover, a bodybuilding competition is slated to be held in the last week of October making way for winners to participate in Mr. India 2021-22 competition later this year in Ludhiana, Punjab.

Secretary Sports Council Nuzhat Gull has directed the concerned association to activate the district units across J&K immediately.

She said that under the “NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyaan” concerned association will run a campaign across the J&K and aware youth about the positive impact of the healthy lifestyle on the routine.

Nuzhat Gull said that sports policy rolled out last year has made sports a good career option and bodybuilding as a sport offers twin benefits, one that it helps in maintaining good health, and two that athletes who excel in the field may earn a government job too.

Meanwhile office bearers of the concerned association said that so far competitions for Mr. Jammu, and Mr. North India were organized earlier this year and Mr. India 2022-23 shall be held in March next year.
