Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Budgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, police said that officers from Police Station Chadoora at a checkpoint established at KilkadalChadoora intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot after noticing the police party but was apprehended tactfully.
Stating that during searches 505 tablets of Alprazolam and 2.39grams of Heroin like substance (concealed in polythene bag) have been recovered from the possession of the above named accused who has been identified as Nisar Ahmed Rather@ Nizkala son of Mushtaq Ahmed resident of Qaisermullah Chadoora, Police in it’s statement further said that it has registered a case vide FIR No. 160/2022 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Chadoora and investigation is underway to ascertain the facts on ground.
In the concluding para of the above referred statement, police said that its consistent actions against drug peddlers will continue in future also so that society is freed from the scourge of drug menace.
