Poonch : District Election Department Poonch on Thursday organised a series of awareness programmes across the District to enroll the voters under Special Summary Revision .
Gazetted officers of District Poonch visited different polling stations in Surankote, Mendhar, Mandi, Poonch and apprised the public about Special Summary Revision 2022 of Photo electoral roll and stressed on getting enrolled in the Electoral Roll.
Speaking at an awareness programme in Government Degree College Poonch, the speakers encouraged the students, especially prospective voters to enroll themselves as voters during the Special Summary Revision 2022, which is being started from September 15, 2022. District Election Officer, (DC Poonch), InderJeet also attended the awareness program in the College
The College Principal, Prof. DrJasbir Singh said that the main objective of the awareness drive was to sensitize the students and create awareness about the importance of vote and the enrolment.
District Election Officer, (DC Poonch), InderJeet educated the students about the importance of getting enrolled in electoral rolls.
The DC stressed on enrollment, cleanliness and eradication of drug abuse. He said the district administration was making sincere efforts to educate and keep children away from drugs and provide quality treatment to those who have fallen into its trap. He said that strictest action will be taken against drug peddlers.
Elaborating on the Special Summary Revision, the Deputy Commissioner said that any person/ students attaining the age of 18 years qualifies to be enrolled as an elector in the Electoral Roll and choose a good representative.
Deputy District Election Officer, Gurpinder Singh, Chief Education Officer, BishamberNath besides professors and other staff members of degree college Poonch were present.
