Srinagar : Police in Budgam on Wednesday organised three separate Cybercrime awareness programmes at Town Hall Khansahib, Police Station Chadoora and Police Station Charar-i-Sharief.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, ASP Budgam and Junaid-ul-Rahman Chairman of (The Chinar Valley Group-NGO) and Cyber security awareness expert briefed about various types of cyber threats/activities viz identity theft, credit card fraud, data stealing, cyber stalking, pornography etc.
Later on the similar events took place at PS Chadoora and PS Charar-i-Shariefand the awareness programs were chaired by concerned SHOs.
Speaking on the occasions, the chairing officers advised the participants to be aware while surfing the internet and not to fall prey to cyber criminals. They also appealed the participants to spread the awareness among others as well regarding the risks associated with digital transactions and social media applications in use. They also advised the participants not to open/click links without knowing the source of origin and mode of transmission through different internet applications.
On this occasion, police said that the main motive behind conducting such programmes is to spread awareness of cybercrime among the general Public. The participants including students and religious heads appreciated the efforts of Police for facilitating such awareness programmes to save general public from falling prey at the hands of cyber criminals. The participants assured their full cooperation to police in tackling all types of crimes including Cybercrime.
In a concluding para of the above referred statement police said that the first event was held at Town hall Khansahib which was chaired by ASP Budgam Gowhar Ahmad, and among others SDPO Khansahib, SHO P/S Khansahib, IC PP Watrehail and other police officers were present on the occasion. The programme was attended by respectable citizens, religious heads of the Khansahib area, teachers & students of various schools.
