DDC Kupwara chairs Mega Block Diwas at Qalamabad, Mawar

  DM stresses for prioritizing works for timely resolution

Kupwara :  The District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatrayon Wednesday chaired a mega block diwas programme at SheikhporaQalamabad in Mawer block of Kupwara district.

ADC Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir; DDC Member Mawar, Khurshid Ahmad Dar; BDC Chairperson, Tahir Ahmad Mir, District and Block level Officers, Engineers, besides, PRIs and general public attended the block diwas.

Addressing the block diwas, the DDC said that the aim of holding block diwas is to reach the people living in far flung areas and listen to their developmental issues for proper redressal.

The DDC asked the PRIs to identify focus areas which need resolution on priority grounds so as to make grievance redressal mechanisms more dynamic and vibrant.

Regarding the developmental plan for Bangus valley, the DDC said that the LG Administration has a special focus on the development of Bangus valley. He said work is apace on approaching roads connecting the beautiful valley adding that 100 homestays have already been approved in the area with 30 percent reservation for ST population to support them in earning their livelihood.

Regarding Disaster Management, the DDC informed that a special kit is provided to every panchayat of the district to enable them in meeting out exigencies. He said 10 persons will be identified in each panchayat, who will be provided a training session to enable them to deal with incidents like accidents, landslides, avalanches and health emergencies.

Regarding electoral registration, the DDC said that the electoral registration will start tomorrow on September 15 in the district on a war footing basis and urged the people to contact concerned BLOs to get themselves registered on electoral rolls.

The DDC also spoke on the Aap Ki ZameenAap Ki Nigrani portal and asked the people to take benefit of the portal which offers easy access to their land record at fingertips.

Replying to a quality assessment of a school, the DDC said that the Education department is launching a special programme in the whole district to check the measures for quality improvement in the schools.

Replying to the query on MGNREGA, the DDC said that the works will get started within three days on the plan submitted by the Panchayats.

Earlier, various PRIs and senior citizens spoke on the occasion and projected developmental issues of their respective areas.

The DDC heard them patiently and passed on spot directions to the concerned officers and fixed timelines for resolution of the issues. The DDC also redressed various issues on the spot.
