Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested 2 drug peddlers in Anantnag and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar Police said that Police Station Srigufwara received a specific information through reliable sources about one person namely Javid Ahmad Bhat son of Gh Mohi-ud-din Bhat R/O Sirhama Srigufwara having indulged in drug peddling and hoarding a large quantity of narcotic substance in his residential house.
Stating that on receiving authentic inputs, a police party from Police Station Srigufwara along with Executive Magistrate concerned raided the said location and during searches recovered 6.2Kgs of Bung Boosa from the said house.
Police in it’s above referred statement further more said that the accused person was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody and a case under relevant sections of law has also been registered and further investigation is in progress.
Stating that in another similar action, officers from PP Janglatmandi at a checkpoint established at Ashajipora bridge, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Hashim Mushtaq Bhat S/O Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat R/O Dabruna Anantnag, Police in it’s statement further said that during searches 800grams of Bung Bosa were recovered from the possession of the above named accused who was arrested and shifted to PS where he remains in custody.
In a concluding para of the above referred statement, the police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police in it’s statement also said that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken as part of the efforts made to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
