Srinagar : Police in Budgam on Thursday destroyed wild bhung in Khansahib area. Besides Anti Narcotics Task Force J&K also destroyed wild bhung spread on a vast area of forest land in Kupwara.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters here, the Police in Budgam headed by SHO PS Khansahib and officials from Revenue DepttKhansahiblaunched a special drive to destroy wild bung in ParnewaKhansahib and its adjacent areas. During the drive, the joint team destroyed bhung cultivation spread on the vast area of land. General public of the area have appreciated the action of Police and have urged to continue such drive in nearby areas also.
Meanwhile, Anti-Narcotics Task Force J&K in collaboration with Divisional Forest officer Kamraj Forest Division ZangilKupwara, Excise & taxation department of Kupwara/Baramulla, Revenue Department with the assistance of local Police carried a major bhung destruction drive at Trimukhan Top, Lolab and adjoining areas bordering Kupwara, Baramulla&Bandipora Districts. During the drive, wild bhung spread over approximately 05 hectares of forest land was destroyed.
According to the above referred statement, police on this occasion appealed people to come forward with any information regarding cultivation of contrabands in their neighbourhood and assured people that people found indulging in drug peddling & cultivation of contraband substances shall be dealt as per law.
