Kathua : The International Literacy Day was observed by District Legal Services Authority Kathua (DLSA) at Government Middle School, Jakhbar, here on Thursday.
The programme was organised to raise awareness and concern for literacy problems that exist within local communities as well as globally.
To mark the occasion, Painting and Debate competitions were organised in the School premises wherein students of different classes participated in the competitions.
While speaking on the occasion, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Kathua highlighted the importance of International Literacy Day and discussed various measures to create a more literate and sustainable society.
The Secretary District Legal Services Authority Kathua also gave away certificates and medals among the participating Students.
The programme was attended by the students and staff of Govt. Middle School JakhbarKathua, staff of District Legal Services Authority Kathua along with Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA Kathua.
Similar awareness programme was organised by Chairman TLSC Hiranagar, at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Marheen and Chairman TLSC Billawar, Ms. Shabnam Sheikh at Govt. Middle School Billawar.
