DEO Shopian conducts Outreach Prog on registration of new eligible voters in Ramnagri

Shopian : The District Election Office Shopianon Thursday held an outreach programme on Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) at the tribal belt of Ramnagri village to sensitize and aware young and eligible voters.

The programme was attended by elders of the area and the general masses from the adjacent villages of Mirzapora, Check masjid, Chech i Ramnagri, Reshnagri, Gadipora and Amshipora.

The programme highlighted the ways and means for the registration of the new voters through submission of various designated forms and also through the online methods.

Election NaibTehsildar, Bashir Ahmed addressed the gathering  and spoke on the significance of SVEEP for the effective participation of new eligible voters by way of conducting mass awareness programmes across the district.

He said that as per the schedule issued by the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, the special summary revision which is happening after almost four years shall start from 15/09/2022. Filing objections and claims can be done up to 25/10/2022. The disposal of claims and objections shall take place by 10/11/2022 and the final draft of electoral rolls shall be published on 25/11/2022.

Later, the public was informed about the details of the local BLO’s and sample forms were distributed among the participants. It was also informed to the public that besides filling physical forms, registration can be done through Voter helpline app and through nvsp portal.

Earlier, the district election office conducted wide screening and dissemination of a short film on the SVEEP which was shot locally highlighting the eagerness of youth in getting themselves registered as voters.

The election office also created public awareness through a public address system on a mobile van.
