DC Kathua reviews implementation of NashaMuktJ&K Abhiyan   

DM emphasizes on close coordinated among stakeholders to make Distt drug  free

Kathua :  Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Pandeyon Thursday chaired a meeting of concerned officers to discuss modalities for smooth implementation of ‘NashaMukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan’ here at DC office complex.

During the meeting, detailed deliberations were held with regard to establishment of Drug De-addiction Centre (DDAC) in ANMT school building in GMC Kathua, strict implementation of NDPS Act, spreading of message of NashaMuktAbhiyan at School and College levels, NashaMukt awareness activities at popular Tourist destinations besides aggressive social media campaign to educate masses about ill effects of drug menace.

The DC called upon Principal, GMC Kathua, Medical Superintendent, CMOKathua to work in tandem with Nodal Department Social Welfare for early functioning of the Drug De Addiction Centre and equip it with necessary infrastructure so that rehabilitation of identified drug addicts can be ensured in hassle free manner.

Tourism department was directed by DC Kathua to organiseprogrammes at prominent tourist destinations across the district so as to amplify the message of a drug free district. Cultural department was directed to organise theme based NukkadNataks to sensitise the public about drug menace.

Besides, the DC directed the information department to carry out an aggressive social media campaign to spread awareness regarding harmful effects of drug addiction on the society and importance of healthy life.

ACP Kathua was directed to hold Special Gram Sabhas every month to ensure active participation of PRIs in fighting against the growing drug menace in the district.

The Executive officers of Municipalities were directed to undertake awareness drives through SwasthRath in hotspot areas across the district under the ongoing NashaMukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan.

RTO Kathua was directed to affix stickers carrying messages regarding ill effects of drugs and substance abuse on both public and private transport.

The DC enjoined upon all the stakeholders to work in tandem for ensuring effective implementation of Drug- Free Kathua campaign.
