SP College celebrates ‘Teacher’s Day’

Srinagar :  Sri Pratap College, Srinagar on Wednesday celebrated ‘Teacher’s Day’ with great fervour and exuberance.

Prof. (Dr.) Yasmeen Ashai, Director Colleges, J&K was the chief guest of the event that was also attended by the staff members and students of S.P. College.

The event began with the recitation of the Quran, followed by the College’s ‘Tarana’.

In her address, the chief guest laid emphasis on the role of parents and teachers in the overall development of students and encouraged the students to be proactive in both academic and co-curricular activities.

Earlier, the chief guest was formally welcomed by the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Khursheed Ahmad Khan, who in his welcome address threw light on the importance of teacher’s day and the role of teachers in shaping society. Besides, he also expressed his concern over the growing menace of drug addiction in the valley and elsewhere in India.

A pledge was taken to make India, ‘Nashaa Mukt Bharat’.This was followed by a cultural event  consisting of Rouff, Ladisha, group songs, beautiful poetry, and speeches put together by students acknowledging the hard work of the teachers.

Additionally, fun games both indoors and outdoors were also arranged by the students, which were thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated by the teachers.

Prof. Bashir Ahmad Mir (Dean, Academics of the College) presented the concluding remarks, while the vote of thanks was extended by Prof. Shazia Mushtaq. The rapporteur of the event was Dr. Syed Javaid Ahmad Andrabi. The event was moderated by FizaShabir and Seman Fatimah (students of IG EVS).

Furthermore, the whole event was organised under the guidance of the respective Deans, Students Welfare of the College, Dr. Jan Shabir, Dr.Khalida Hassan, Prof. ShaziaMushtaq, and Dr. Mohammad RaiesUlHaq.
