Samba : A team of representatives of National Horticulture Board, Government of India on Wednesday visited Government Fruit Plant Nursery Vijaypur for accrediting the nursery as per the NHB guidelines and rating.
The National team was headed by Dr. Wali Mohammad Wani, Retired Prof. SKUAST-K, while other members included Sansar Ahmed, Dy. Director NHB Jammu Office, Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Sr. Scientist RRSS Raya & Jograj Salathia from Agriculture Department.
The team inspected different parts of the nursery to see the overall progress being made to meet the accreditation norms and the activities being undertaken in the nursery as per the standards and protocol for propagation of plant material. The mother plant bank, root stock, and grafted plant material was also inspected.
Mukesh Kumar Sharma, Chief Horticulture Officer Samba; Hamid Ahmed, District Horticulture officer Samba and Rakesh Kumar, Horticulture Development Officer Government Fruit Plant Nursery Vijaypur also accompanied the team.
The department is focusing on production of quality planting material so that farmers can get good returns after planting these plants informed CHO Samba.
