Dir Horti (J) inspects departmental activities in Reasi Distt

Reasi :  Director Horticulture Jammu, Ram Savak conducted an extensive tour of Block Pouni of District Reasi.

During the tour, the Director Horticulture Jammu presided over the awareness camp-cum-interaction programme organized by Horticulture Department Reasi at panchayat Dub Khalsa. The occasion was also graced by the presence of the Chairman Block Development Council Pouni,   Pawan Sharma, Sarpanches and other PRI members of block Pouni.

The event also witnessed an interaction programme which was attended by a large number of orchardists, KrishiSakhis and members of SHGs.

The Chief Horticulture Officer, BrijVallabh Gupta spoke at length and gave detailed information about the different Centrally Sponsored & UT CAPEX schemes being implemented by the Horticulture Department. The participants interacted with Director and lauded the Horticulture Department for its working and also raised some issue like monkey menace. The Director Horticulture Jammu motivated the participants to take benefit of Horticulture schemes and assured full cooperation from the department for the development of Horticulture sector in the district. The Director Horticulture Jammu also visited the orchard of a progressive orchardist Gurdev Singh at Barakh and inspected the integrated farming being done by him.

Director also presided over a facilitation function of one day Training Programme in the art of Fruit and Vegetable preservation organized by the Horticulture Department Reasi with the help of MCC Udhampur, K. S. Sodhi at Ransoo.

As many as 100 women of different SHGs of JKRLM and others were trained in the programme. The Director Horticulture Jammu interacted with participants and encouraged them to take up the value addition of locally available products. He said more such training programmes would be hosted in future.

The Director Horticulture Jammu also distributed certificates among the participants.

Later, the Director inaugurated an outlet for the sale of local value added products and Prasad prepared by MahilaKaryaSamiti at Ransoo.
