Block Diwas held at Achabal, Sangam Anantnag

Anantnag : Block Diwas was on Wednesday held at Budget Accommodation Sagam, where Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Wani presided over the event.

Several representatives from the civil society participated in the block diwas and registered their grievances with the concerned departments.

The grievances pertained mainly to availability of drinking water, upgradation of electric infrastructure, improvement of interior roads, etc.

Representatives from line departments were present on the occasion and briefed the chair regarding proposed resolution of grievances. PRIs present on the occasion also put forth some issues and were assured by concerned departments that genuine grievances will be addressed on priority.

Speaking on the occasion, ADDC Anantnag said that the district has launched an extensive campaign under the aegis of NashaMukht Bharat Abhiyan. He said that all stakeholders must come together and ensure this menace is eradicated from the society.

He exhorted the people present to spread awareness regarding the problem in their localities and bring forward any victims who require rehabilitation. He further directed officials from line departments to ensure time bound redressal of grievances flagged during the event.

Similarly, Block Diwas was also held at Dak Bungalow Achabal where Addl. Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Anantnag, Gulzar Ahmad chaired the event.

The ADC said that youth are most affected by the problem of drugs and as such special focus shall be on rehabilitation of any such victims. He appealed to the people that they must cooperate with the administration in the effort to eradicate this menace from society.

He said that social ostracization of addicts should be avoided and emphasis should be on rehabilitating these victims so that they can also lead productive lives.

The attendees were also administered a pledge in which they expressed their resolve to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society.

The block was attended by members of the District Development council, SDM Kokernag, concerned Tehsildars, concerned BDOs among others.
