Srinagar : Police Wednesday said that it has arrested 13 persons and also seized 13 vehicles involved in illegal extraction and transportation of mineral in Bandipora and Budgam districts.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, police said that in Bandipora, a police party of PS Bandipora following information about illegal excavation & transportation of minerals in their jurisdiction, intercepted five tippers and two tractors loaded with illegally extracted minerals from various nallahas/streams.
Stating that the vehicles have been seized and their drivers arrested, Police in it’s statement further said that in Budgam, PS Magam and PS Khansahib conducted raids at Rudbugh and Nallah Arizal respectively and seized three tippers, two tractors and a JCB involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Stating therein further that the drivers of the said vehicles including a JCB driver have been arrested , Police in the above referred statement further said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in the concerned police stations and investigations have been initiated.
In a concluding para of the above referred statement, police warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
