IIM Jammu welcomes IPM 2nd-batch

Jammu :  Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Jammu on Tuesday welcomed the second batch of IPM (2022-27) with the inaugural ceremony of the Orientation Program. A relaxing yoga session focusing on the theme “Maximize happiness and mindfulness” by Yoga, and Meditation Trainer ShriGautamVermamarked the beginning of the three-day program, followed by a faculty-student interactive session.

The program was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu, and Guest of Honor,  SanjeevVerma, IAS, Secretary, Department of Forest, Ecology & Environment.

The event also witnessed the presence of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu, Dr. RashmiRanjanParida, Chairperson Admissions, Dr. KapilManoharGumte, Chairperson IPM, and Dr. MinakshiKumari, Chairperson Alumni Affairs, IIM Jammu. The dignitaries on the dais lit the lamp to commence the inaugural ceremony of the three-day orientation program. This was followed by the chanting of the SaraswathiVandana by the IPM01 batch.

Post felicitation of dignitaries by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, Dr. RashmiRanjanParida, Chairperson Admissions IIM Jammu gave a brief presentation about the batch profile of the incoming second batch of IPM. It was heartening to notice the representation from around 16 states of the country in the second batch of IPM of IIM Jammu. He further stated that the girls had outperformed the boys this year in the IPM02 admission process.

Following the batch profile, there was a brief address by the Guest of Honor, ShriSanjeevVerma, IAS, Secretary, Department of Forest, Ecology& Environment. He welcomed the incoming batch and advised them to be prepared for the forthcoming academic sessions with rigor. He emphasized that the – ‘Future is Green’ and stressed the importance of a green future, green solutions, green finance, and management in times to come.

This was followed by the introduction to the Integrated Program in Management (IPM) by Dr. KapilManoharGumte, Chairperson IPM, IIM Jammu. He provided an overview of the course, faculty, and the institute in general.

Further in the session, Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu welcomed the incoming batch to the IIM Jammu family and urged each one of them to take responsibility and contribute to the IIM Jammu family. He mentioned the various programs offered by the Institute and the rapid progress of the Institute on all fronts in a short span of time. He also proudly mentioned that the recent 36th ranking in the recently released NIRF ranking 2022 was a testimony to the hard work put forward by the Institute. He addressed the students on the expectations from them as students. Also, he wished them good luck for their upcoming academic sessions and stressed on making it a truly wonderful experience at the Institute level.

Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu extended his hearty welcome to the incoming IPM02 batch of IIM Jammu. He spoke at the length about the two unique programs ranging from the Dual Degree program (B.Tech +MBA)  with IIT Jammu and MBA (HA& HM) started by IIM Jammu in collaboration with IIT Jammu and AIIMS Jammu and called it a truly unique role model for the nation.He quoted the real-life examples of Industrialists ShriMukeshAmbani and ShriGautamAdani and emphasized on entrepreneurship.

Further, he encouraged the batch to remain inquisitive and to enjoy their life and study by consistently working with a purpose in life. He also advised them to decide on their future course of the journey as to whether they would like to become job creators or job seekers, and work towards achieving their dream.

The institute had the opportunity to welcome Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu as the Chief Guest for the program. He praised the batch for its diversity in gender, age, and experience, which is bound to make the classroom discussions more interesting. Moreover, he advocated the need to remain curious and observant and to continuously learn and relearn with passion. He also stated that the upcoming five years would shape the lives of the students. This was followed by a Q &A session between the students and the dignitaries.

The first newsletter by the name “Prakhyapanam” of the Industry Interaction Cell (IIC) of IIM Jammu was also unveiled on this occasion by all the dignitaries present on the dais.

The Orientation Programme ended with the Vote of Thanks by Dr. MinakshiKumari, Chairperson Alumni Affairs, IIM Jammu followed by the recital of the National Anthem.
