2 Hizb militants killed in Anantnag encounter

Anantnag : Two local militants affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen were killed in a gunfight that broke out between militants and security forces at Poshkreeri village of Bijbehara area in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said on Tuesday.
An official said that on specific input about the presence of militants, a joint team of police, Army and CRPF after receiving information about the presence of militants launched search operation in the area.
He said that as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the party, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter.
The official said during exchange of fire, two militants were killed who were affiliated with HM were killed who were identified as Danish Ahmad Bhat resident of Jablipora Bijbehara and Basharat Nabi Lone resident of Fatehpora Anantnag
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that duo were involved in several militant crime cases which includes killing of TA solider and two civilians.
Kashmir Zone Police on it’s twitter handle quoted ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar as saying that the slain militants identified as Danish Bhat @ Kokab Duree & Basharat Nabi, both affiliated with Hizb Ul Mujahideen militant outfit, Stating therein further that both were involved in the killing of one TA personnel Saleem on 9 April 2021 & killing of two civilians on 29 May 2021 in Jablipora.
A police spokesman in a statement issued on Tuesday said that on a specific information regarding the presence of militants in village Poshkreeri area of Anantnag, a joint cordon & search operation was launched by Police and Army (3RR) in the area.
“During the search operation, as the joint search party approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated effectively leading to an encounter,” the spokesperson said, adding, that in the ensuing encounter, two militants were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter.
“They have been identified as Danish Ahmad Bhat alias Kokab Duree son of Gulazar Ahmad Bhat resident of Jablipora Bijbehara and Basharat Nabi Lone son of Ghulam Nabi Lone resident of Fatehpora Anantnag linked with HM outfit,” the spokesman said, adding that as per the police records, both the killed militants were categorized militants and active since year 2019. “Both the killed militants had a history of terror crime cases including attacks on police/security forces and civilian atrocities. Besides, they were also involved in killing of two Territorial Army personnel namely Manzoor Ahmad at Sadoora Anantnag on 06/06/2019 and Mohammad Saleem at Bijbehara on 09/04/2021,” he said, adding that they were also involved in killing of two civilians on 29/05/2021 in Jablipora, Bijbehara area. He said that incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 01 AK-56 Rifle, 35 AK rounds, 02 AK magazines, 01 Pistol, 01 Pistol Magazine and 02 Pistol rounds were recovered from the site of encounter
