J&K Police to organize “Pedal for Peace” Cycle Race at Srinagar on Sept 11

Srinagar : Jammu & Kashmir Police is going to organize “Pedal for Peace” Cycle Race-2022 event at Srinagar on September 11, 2022 (Sunday) under its Civic Action Programme.

According to a statement issued from Police Headquarters a meeting of all the members of the organizing committee of the event was on Friday presided over by DIG Central Kashmir Range Srinagar Sujit Kumar at APHQ Conference Hall Srinagar on behalf of ADGP Armed J&K under whose Chairmanship the said event is being organized. During the meeting held at APHQ Conference Hall Srinagar Friday, all the issues/ activities relating to smooth and successful conduct of the event were discussed and deliberated upon minutely.

Kuldeep Handoo-DySP (Sports) APHQ J&K briefed the meeting about all the issues of the event through a visual presentation on the occasion. While addressing the meeting, DIG CKR Sujit Kumar disclosed that the event “Pedal for Peace” Cycle Race-2022 shall be organized under the patronage of Shri Dilbag Singh-IPS DGP J&K whereas S.J.M Gillani ADGP Armed J&K is the Chairman of the organizing Committee of the event and Shahid Mehraj DIG Armed Police/ IR Kashmir Range is the organizing Secretary of the event. He said that the Flagg-Off Ceremony of the Cycle Race shall take place at 0630 Hours on September 11, 2022 (Sunday) from Lalit Ghat Boulevard Road Srinagar and the Flag-in Ceremony shall take place at 1000 hours on the same day at Police Golf Course Boulevard Road Srinagar.  During the meeting all the issues related to smooth and successful conduct of the event were raised by the participants of the meeting. All the issues one by one were clarified by the DIG CKR and DIG AP Kashmir and appropriate instructions issued on-spot.

The issues related to arrangements for Flagg-Off and Flag-in ceremonies, route plan, sequence/ timing of category wise events, traffic arrangements, security arrangements, Police bandhobast, circulation of entry forms, installation of Public Address System, Transportation, Ambulance and Medical facilities, arrangement of refreshment for the participants, display of banners for wide publicity of the event etc were discussed and deliberated upon minutely on the occasion and necessary instructions/ appropriate guidelines issued by DIG CKR on the occasion.

While explaining the activities of the event through the visual presentation, Dronacharya Awardee Kuldeep Handoo-DySP (Sports) APHQ J&K said that approximately 2000 Cyclists from J&K including professional Cyclists from outside J&K are going to participate in the said event. He said that for registration of the Cyclists who are interested to participate in the said event, 6 Registration counters are being established at Srinagar w.e.f 3rd September 2022 at different locations viz: Police Golf Course, SDPO Office Nehru Park, Gindun Stadium Rajbagh, S.K Indoor Stadium Srinagar, Kashmir University and Gulshan Ground Jammu. All the Cyclists interested to participate in the Cycle Race 2022 at Srinagar shall collect their registration forms at the afore said registration counters.

The registered participants of the event shall have to assemble at Lalit Ghat the venue for Flagg-Off Ceremony at 0500 hours on September 11, 2022 for their scrutiny and distribution of Chest numbers to them by the officials of the organizing committee of the event. An amount of ₹03.86 Lakhs has been earmarked as prize money for winners of Seven different categories in the event.

The participants of the event shall be bifurcated in Seven categories viz: (1) Senior (Men) above 17 years (ATB) Professional Cyclist; (2) Senor (Men) above 17 years (MTB) Cyclist; (3) Open (Girls) above 15 years (MTB) Cyclist; (4) Junior (Boys) under 17 years (MTB) Cyclist; (5) Sub-Junior (Boys) under 14 years (MTB) Cyclist; (6) Sub-Junior (Girls) under 14 years (MTB) Cyclist and (7) Veteran Cyclist Category. The first five position holders in category number (1), (2) & (7) and first 10 position holders in category number (3), (4), (5) and (6) mentioned above shall be presented handsome cash prizes by the organizers. The meeting was attended by all the senior officers of J&K Police, Representatives from Police Hospital/ Youth Service & Sports Kashmir, Security, Traffic, Telecom, Photo Section Crime Branch including DIG Armed Police/ IR Range Kashmir Shahid Mehraj, SSP Srinagar Rakesh Balwal, Staff Officer to ADGP Armed J&K Mahmood Ahmed-SSP and other officers of APHQ.
