Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested three accused and also seized three vehicles for illegal extraction and transportation of mineral in Budgam district.
In a statement issued from the Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a party of PP Humhama at a checkpoint established at Laloo Sheshgari intercepted three tippers loaded with illegally extracted soil.
Police in the above referred statement also said that the vehicles bearing registration numbers JK01M-2211, JK05B-0747 and JK04B-7700 have been seized and their drivers identified as Basharat Ali Ganai son of Mohammad BaqirGanai resident of Bodina Budgam, Javaid Ahmad Ganai son of Ghulam Mohammad Ganai resident of BodinaBudgam and Sarfaraz Akhter Chopan son of Zahoor Ahmad Chopan resident of Mahawar Budgam were arrested.
Stating that the above named accused have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that a case under relevant sections of law in Police Station Budgam has been registered and investigation has been initiated to ascertain the facts.
In a concluding para of the above referred statement, Police said that persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
