DDC Doda interacts with civil society members

DM Assures redressal of public issues, meeting developmental demands

Doda :  District Development Commissioner (DDC) Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan  on Thursday held an introductory meeting with the   civil society members including representatives of  social, political and religious organisations  here in the conference hall of the DC office and listened to their issues.

The participants  projected a range of public demands  and grievances seeking  beaJ&Kification of Doda Town, de-congestion of traffic, check on   stray animals, menace of drug abuse, removal of encroachments, quality execution  of works, maintaining cleanliness, timely completion of sports facilities, creation of Multi level parking facility, establishment of mother child care centre, women college, rationalization of teaching staff especially in rural areas,   effective functioning of GMC Doda, provision of minor minerals, besides other issues.

The DDC gave a patient hearing and sought feedback on solutions  regarding the issues raised in the meeting.

Responding to the issue of illegal parking in market area, the DDC gave on spot directions to Traffic department to start with challaning and   cancel the license of the owners/drivers  for repeated violations. He further directed to enforce the no entry schedule of heavy goods vehicle from 9 am to 8 pm in the town area.

Regarding encroachment of pavements, the DDC directed the EO MC, Tehsildar Doda and SHO to confiscate the material of shopkeepers if put  on sale at the footpath.  The EO MC was further directed to charge heavy fines from the owners of cattle roaming in the market area and deploy an adequate number of civic workers to conduct daily cleanliness operations across the Town area.

Close check on illegal construction and demolition of illegal structures was also stressed upon.

For beaJ&Kification of the town, the DDC asked the   MC to submit the beaJ&Kification plan and strictly enforce the ban on the use of polythene in the market area.

While responding to the issue of Drug abuse, the DDC informed the participants that district administration, in coordination with the Police Department, are going to launch a mega awareness campaign in the district. He asked the civil society members to come forward and take part in the mission in order to make Doda a Nasha Mukht district.

SSP Abdul Qayoom also interacted with the participants and briefed them aboutthe efforts made to eradicate   drug abuse. He further requested the locals, young people, social and religious organisations to come forward and take part in this mission to make Doda district a drug free district in the entire J&K .

Among others present were Principal GMC DodaDr Noor Ali; President MC Doda, Ved Prakash Gupta; ADDC Doda Pran Singh;ADC Doda Dr R K Bharti; SE PWD Suresh Kumar; SE Hydraulics, Anil Gupta; CPO, Suresh Kumar; ACD Doda Phulail Singh; Dy Director Employment, Mohd Idrees lone, Ex En PWD, Exen PDD, STD besides other concerned officers.
