Budgam : The KrishiVigyan Kendra (KVK), Budgamon Wednesdayorganised an awareness programme on ‘Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD)’ at Ichgam/Naru and its adjoining areas.

Around 30 dairy farmers from the LSD infected area attended the programme.

Dr. Mir Nadeem Hassan (Scientist Animal Science) discussed in detail about the disease, its prevention and control measures.

During the programme, Extension Pamphlets on LSD were also distributed among the farmers for wider awareness. People were advised not to panic but to take utmost precautions to prevent the economic losses due to this disease.  It was stressed that farmers must take preventive measures like restricted movement of livestock, isolation of clinically ill animals and control of insect vectors.

Farmers were also advised to contact the members of a task force designated by the District Administration for control of LSD in case of any eventuality.

At the end, the team visited various affected animals for on spot advice and treatment accordingly.
