Sopore : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Sopore and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued on Wednesday Police said that a Police party led by incharge Police Post Warpora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Sopore Furqan Qadir and SHO PS Sopore at a checkpoint established at Jahangir Colony Warpora Sopore intercepted a person in a suspicious manner and upon searching recovered 12grms of Brown Sugar like substance from his possession following which he was identified as Showkat Ahmad Para S/O Muhammad Maqbool Para R/O Adipora Sopore.
Stating the above named accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 191/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Sopore and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above referred statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding cultivation of contrabands in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling & cultivation of contraband substances shall be dealt as per law.
