KVK Samba organises awareness progon Lumpy Skin Disease

Samba  :KrishiVigyan Kendra, Samba, organized an awareness programme on Lumpy Skin Disease on Tuesday at KVK Samba under the dynamic leadership of Professor. J.P. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and the aegis of Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-J.

More than 85 farmers from different blocks of district Samba actively participated in the programme.

The program started with the welcome address by Dr. Sanjay Khajuria, Chief Scientist & Head KVK Samba. He welcomed the experts and the farmers and highlighted the need for an awareness programme for the Lumpy Skin disease for the welfare of farmers. He emphasized upon different scientific initiatives to mitigate the suffering of the dairy animals.

A team of experts, led by Prof. Rajeev Singh along with Prof. AnishYadav and Prof. Harsh Sharma from the Faculty of the Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, R.S. Pura, participated in the programme and disseminated the scientific information on the preventive and treatment aspects of the disease.

Dr. Rahul Dev, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Samba, responded to the queries of the farmers and apprised the dairy farmers about the different initiatives of the government to control this disease.

Prof. Vinod Gupta, Division of Extension Education, Chatha also highlighted the importance of different awareness programmes for dissemination of knowledge on different aspects of the disease and its control strategies.

Dr. Vijay Kumar Sharma, Scientist (Animal Sciences), KVK Samba, discussed different aspects of scientific dairy farming to prevent occurrence and spread of the disease among the healthy animals. He emphasisedutilisation of vaccination to control and mitigate the spread of the disease.  Others who participated in the programme included Dr. Neerja Sharma, Dr. Abhay Kumar Sinha, Dr. AmitMahajan and Dr. ShaliniKhajuria.

The vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Saurav Gupta and also coordinated the programme.
