DC Doda listens issues of MC councilors, reviews functioning of civic body

DM asks for conducting regular cleanliness drives; EO, DySP Traffic directed to impose heavy fine on owners of stray animals, illegal parking

Doda :  Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan, on Tuesday convened an introductory cum review meeting with the Councillors of Municipal Council Doda here in the conference Hall of DC office complex and listened to their issues.

Among others present in the meeting were President MC DodaVedPrakash Gupta, SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom,ADCDoda DR R K Bharti, Councillors of various wards,Ex En PDD, Ex En PWD, Dy SP Traffic, EO MC Doda, Technical Officer to Ex En PHE Doda, besides other concerned officials were also present.

Threadbare discussion was held with regard to the working of the civic body, issues being faced by the council members, besides pace of ongoing developmental works, implementation of PMAY-U, and status of mega projects pertaining to MC Doda.

Taking note of the slow pace of completion of PMAY-U houses, the DC directed the EO to meet the target on a war footing basis and recover the money from the beneficiaries reluctant to start the construction. He further asked for preparing a new list of beneficiaries so that the same shall be sent to the concerned quarter for early sanctioning. The EO MC and PWD department were asked to verify the houses constructed during the Covid time and submit the factual report.

While responding to the demand of construction of Multi level Parking facility in Doda town, the DC asked the stakeholder departments to examine the proposals of Councillors and submit a report on its feasibility within next two days. Besides, the EO and Dy SP traffic were directed to identify vacant place for Rehris.

The DC further asked for expediting the process for construction of Modern Slaughter house in the town and  identification of state land measuring around 10-20 kanal adjacent to the town for the creation of common facilities of MC Doda like Cattle pond, Solid waste management plant, material recovery facility etc.

Regarding nuisance caused by illegal parking of vehicles, stray animals and encroachment of lanes and footpaths by the shopkeepers, the DC directed Dy SP Traffic and EO MC to impose heavy fines on violators.

The DC further directed to prohibit the entry of trucks, tippers, dumpers carrying goods/building material in the town between 9 am to 8 PM. The departments carrying developmental activities were directed to seek NOC prior to start the work.

Regarding the damage caused to the water supply line in ward number 1 due to the ongoing road widening work, the DC directed the PHE department to coordinate with the NHIDCL for temporary restoration. The engineering departments were directed to speed up the tendering and estimation of the works entrusted to them by the MC under different schemes.

Moreover the DC directed the EO MC Doda to intensify the anti- polythene drive and encourage the general public to use environment safe alternatives.

The DC assured time bound redressal of public issues projected by the Councillors.
